Amos - Introduction

Amos - Introduction

Amos was a shepherd whom God called to be a prophet to the Northern nation of Israel 1:1, 7:14-15. He exposed the sins of pride and arrogance of the people who had forsaken the Lord their God  6:8. His call to repentance went unheeded and the judgment of the Lord was foretold. Even though the people would suffer the judgment of God, yet the Lord had a purpose and a future planned for this nation. A similar theme stated by other of God's prophets. Amos actually came before Hosea during the years 760-750 BC.
