Jeremiah - Introduction
Jeremiah was a called to be God's prophet to the people of
Judah. He gave them God's message, warning them of the judgment of
God that was about to fall on them in the form of the Babylonian
Captivity which would last 70 years (25:9-12). As dark and as
painful as this would be, the Lord also gave hope to His people
with a promised restoration. Jeremiah is called 'the weeping
prophet' because of the tears and sorrow he had over the suffering
the people of God would endure. This came as a direct result of
their sins and rebellion against the Lord.
