Romans - Introduction

Romans - Introduction

Romans begins the section of the New Testament called the Epistles (letters) that the Apostle Paul and others wrote to both churches and individuals. These were recognized as 'inspired by the Holy Spirit' (2 Peter 1:20-22) and have the same authority as the rest of the Scriptures (2 Peter 3:15-16) At the start of this portion of Scripture stands the letter to the Romans. In this, Paul explains the Good News of Jesus Christ in the most comprehensive and logical manner. Justification by faith is the theme or how one can be right with God. Paul makes this clear that this comes to all who believe that through Jesus Christ all sin has been atoned for, by virtue of His sacrificial and substitutionary death and resurrection on behalf of sinners. As he states in 1:16-17 God's power of salvation is in the Gospel for all who will believe and the righteous will live by faith !
