Worldshapers is a prayer program for children in
1st-6th grade. They meet on Wednesday
evenings during the academic year to learn about prayer and to
pray. The name "Worldshapers" comes from the understanding that God
(while He doesn't need our prayers to do His work) chooses
to involve us in His work as we participate in "shaping the world"
through our prayers.
Children learn the basic elements of prayer and are challenged
to pray beyond their own family and friends as they learn about
needs in the church, community, nation, and world. Children are
encouraged to get involved in people's lives both through prayer
and in practical ways such as visiting, note writing, gift giving,
and service. A different focus each year (such as: looking at
prayers of the Bible, learning to listen, studying catechism,
learning to pray using Scripture) directs the opening devotional,
and then helps to guide the children in the beginning of their
prayer time.
The Worldshapers also send cards of encouragement to those they
pray for as well as occasionally visiting people in their homes or
places of work to pray for them there.
Worldshapers meets in Room 4.
