To gain the life that we refer to throughout this site is at the
same time both the simplest and hardest thing you've ever
heard.
The Bible tells us how simple it is. It says that we need to
pray to God and confess to Him that we desire to yield ourselves to
Him-that we will commit to being obedient to Him, that we will make
Jesus our Lord and King. And, it says that we need to believe that God has raised Jesus from the
dead-that we trust that Jesus lived His life for us, that He died
His death for our sins, that He was raised from the dead that He
might give eternal life to all who trust in Him. "If you confess
with your mouth ' Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that
God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
And yet, at the same time, becoming a follower of God does not
mean that suddenly your life will become all the things that you
want it to be. Instead, your life will become all the things that
God wants it to be. Because sin still affects our life even after
we trust in Jesus, we often don't want the same things for our life
that God wants for us.
And that's where the struggle of faith exists. This is why the
life of the follower of Jesus is described as a war, a sacrifice, a
crucifixion, a life of humility and service, and a life
characterized by grace.
The invitation involves the simplest of things-believe. The
invitation involves the most difficult of life changes that you
could ever experience. It's what we would expect from God. A
graciousness that makes salvation ludicrously open to all people.
Yet, He sees in us all the wonderful potential that He created us
to become - even if we don't. And so, He has an expectation for our
lives that far surpasses anything that we could imagine or, at
times, even want. This is our salvation from God.
If this is the life that you yearn for, then you can pray right
now that God would give you that life through Jesus. Because of His
grace, you can be assured that He will give Himself to you-His
power, His life, His presence.
And if you've prayed that God would give you that life, would
you consider contacting one of our pastors? We would
like to celebrate with you on what God is doing in your life and
give you some guidance as to how you can continue in your walk with
the Lord.
But what if you want to come to our church and you've never been
in a church before? Here's what you might expect.
